Follow up with the school and respond promptly to any requests for additional information.

Student Aid Report (SAR)

Your completed FAFSA will generate a Student Aid Report (SAR).  Your SAR summarizes all the information you provided on your FAFSA.  You will receive your SAR:

  • By email 3 – 5 days after your FAFSA has been processed, if you provided an email address when you applied.  (You must access secure line to view SAR online).
  • By mail 7 – 10 days after your FAFSA has been processed, if you do not provide an email address when you apply.

Students can view their online SAR at the the Federal Student Aid website.

The SAR shows your Expected Family Contribution (EFC). The EFC is the amount you and your family are expected to contribute toward your education. The Financial Aid Office uses the EFC to determine the types and amounts of aid for which you qualify. For example, the EFC tells us your eligibility for grants, loans and work-study employment.

Take the time to review your SAR for accuracy and completeness.  You must correct any mistakes or errors in order to receive the financial aid for which you qualify.
